Welcome to Textbook Tutors. I'm Nasir Khan, and for over 8 years, I've been passionate about transforming the way students approach learning, ensuring that they not only excel academically but also build the skills they need for life. My results-driven approach has guided countless students to success in the 11 Plus, Independent School Entrance Exams, the International Baccalaureate (MYP), GCSEs, and beyond. The fact that all three of my children now attend local grammar schools is a testament to the effectiveness of my methods and dedication.

My Journey and Expertise

Throughout my years as a tutor, I've seen the gaps and limitations in traditional education methods, often leaving students with only a superficial understanding of core concepts. By tackling these pain points head-on, I have consistently helped students gain admission to grammar and independent schools, as well as improving GCSE grades by at least two levels. I specialise in adapting my teaching methods to address tricky concepts, breaking them down step by step until students achieve mastery. Whether through repetition, alternative formats or creative models, I ensure that each student not only understands but can confidently explain the material back to me.

Harkness Method and Journaling: Transforming the Learning Experience

One of the most powerful tools in my teaching repertoire is the Harkness Method. I discovered this student-centred discussion approach early in my career, and I was immediately struck by its transformative power. By placing students at the centre of their learning, the Harkness Method fosters critical thinking, confidence, communication and leadership skills—qualities that are essential both academically and personally. I have made it my mission to master this method and make it accessible to a wider range of students, not just those in elite schools or colleges.

In addition to the Harkness Method, I encourage my students to embrace journaling as a way to reflect on their learning, personal growth, and progress. Journaling is a powerful tool for self-reflection, helping students identify areas for improvement and strengthen their overall understanding of the subjects they study.
